رفضت المحكمة العليا الأميركية الاثنين طلبا تقدّمت به إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب لإجبار ولاية كاليفورنيا على إلغاء بطاقات اقتراع أكثر من 20 ألف شخص مرسلة بالبريد، بدعوى أنهم قد لا يكونون مواطنين أميركيين.

وفي قرار مقتضب غير موقّع، رفضت المحكمة العليا الطلب، من دون أن تقدّم أي تبرير لقرارها، وذلك قبل يوم واحد من انتخابات التجديد النصفي.
