أظهرت بيانات حكومية اليوم الأربعاء أن عدد الوفيات الناجمة عن الإصابة بفيروس إيبولا في جمهورية الكونجو الديمقراطية تجاوز ثلاثة آلاف حالة، في وقت يواصل فيه أسوأ تفش ‌للمرض تشهده البلاد الانتشار في الشمال الشرقي.

وأصبح هذا التفشي، الناجم عن سلالة بونديبوجيو من فيروس إيبولا، الأكبر والأشد فتكا في تاريخ الكونجو بعدما تجاوز انتشار المرض بين عامي 2018 و2020.

وهو الآن في المرتبة الثانية بعد تفشي المرض في غرب أفريقيا بين عامي 2014 و2016، ⁠الذي أصاب أكثر من 28600 شخص وأودى بحياة أكثر من 11 ألفا في غينيا وليبيريا وسيراليون.
