باشرت مديرية السلامة المرورية في وزارة الأشغال العامة والإسكان تشغيل الإشارة الضوئية الذكية على تقاطع "مثلث البترول" الحيوي في محافظة إربد، بهدف تنظيم الحركة المرورية وتعزيز أمان المشاة، ولا سيما الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.

وقال الناطق الإعلامي في وزارة الأشغال العامة والإسكان، عمر المحارمة، إن الإشارة الجديدة تتميز بتقنيات متطورة؛ إذ جرى تزويدها بمستشعرات أرضية ترصد الكثافة المرورية لتنظيم حركة المركبات آلياً وتشغيل المسارب عند الطلب.

وأضاف المحارمة أنها توفر عبوراً آمناً للمشاة عبر أزرار متطورة تدعم لغة "برايل" للاستدلال على شكل التقاطع قبل البدء بالعبور، فضلاً عن وجود جرس تحذيري ينبه باقتراب انتهاء زمن المرور المتاح لهم.
