فجرت النروج مفاجأة من العيار الثقيل عندما سجل مهاجمها إرلينغ هالاند هدفين متأخرين أطاحا بالبرازيل (2-1)، حاملة اللقب خمس مرات قياسية، من ثمن نهائي مونديال 2026 في كرة القدم، الأحد في نيوجيرزي.

وأهدرت البرازيل ركلة جزاء عبر برونو غيمارايس في أول ربع ساعة، فيما ضرب هالاند بقوة (79 و90) رافعا رصيده إلى سبعة أهداف بالتساوي مع الفرنسي كيليان مبابي والأرجنتيني ليونيل ميسي، لتلاقي بلاده الفائز بين إنكلترا والمكسيك اللتين تلعبان لاحقا في مكسيكو.

وهذه أول مرة تخفق البرازيل التي سجل لها نيمار ركلة جزاء في الوقت بدلا من ضائع، في بلوغ ربع النهائي منذ نسخة 1990 في إيطاليا.
