بلغت مصر ثمن نهائي مونديال 2026 لكرة القدم للمرة الأولى في تاريخها، بعدما أطاحت بأستراليا بركلات الترجيح 4-2 عقب تعادلهما 1-1 في الوقتين الأصلي والإضافي 1-1 ضمن دور الـ32 الجمعة في أرلينغتون قرب دالاس.

سجل البديل حسام عبد المجيد الركلة الترجيحة الرابعة الفائزة لمصر بعدما أهدر هاري سوتار ولوكاس هيرينغتون ركلتين لأستراليا. وكانت مصر تقدمت مبكرا عبر رأسية إمام عاشور (13). لكن "سوكروز" أدركوا التعادل مع انطلاق الشوط الثاني بهدف عكسي من محمد هاني (55).

وهذا أول فوز يحرزه منتخب "الفراعنة" في الأدوار الإقصائية، في رابع مشاركة له في كأس العالم بعد 1934 و1990 و2018.
