عادت بلجيكا من بعيد وقلبت الطاولة على السنغال، مّحوّلة تخلفها بثنائية إلى فوز 3-2 بعد التمديد وبلغت ثمن نهائي مونديال أميركا الشمالية في كرة القدم، الأربعاء على ملعب لومن فيلد في سياتل ضمن دور الـ32.

وكانت السنغال في طريقها إلى تحقيق فوز سهل عندما تقدمت بثنائية نظيفة لحبيب ديارا (25) وإسماعيلا سار (51)، لكن بلجيكا انتفضت في الدقائق الأخيرة وردّت بهدفيّ البديل روميلو لوكاكو (86) والقائد يوري تيليمانس (89)، قبل أن يقتنص تيليمانس نفسه ركلة جزاء في الوقت بدلا من الضائع وانبرى لها بنفسه مسجلا هدف الفوز (120+5).

وتلتقي بلجيكا في الدور المقبل الإثنين المقبل في سياتل مع الولايات المتحدة أو البوسنة والهرسك اللذين يلتقيان لاحقا في سان فرانسيسكو.
