محتالون يروّجون لتطبيقات على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي (معظمها لمشاهدة مباريات مشفّرة) وفور محاولة تحميلها يقوم الرابط بإطفاء الجهاز وعند إعادة تشغيله وإدخال الرقم السّري للهاتف يقومون بالسيطرة على الجهاز ومنها الحسابات البنكية

حذّرت وحدة مكافحة الجرائم الإلكترونية من أسلوب جديد للسّرقة والاحتيال الإلكتروني عبر نشر محتالين روابطَ لتطبيقات وهمية عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي (معظمها لمشاهدة مباريات كرة قدم مشفّرة).

وأكّدت أنه عند محاولة تنزيل التطبيق يقوم الرابط بإطفاء الجهاز وعند إعادة تشغيله وإدخال الرقم السّرّي للجهاز يقوم على الفور بالسيطرة على الجهاز وكل ما يحتويه ومنها الحسابات البنكية.

وأشارت إلى أنها تحقّق في عدد من الشكاوى التي وردت إليها لأشخاص تعرّضوا لمثل هذا الأسلوب الجرمي.

وأكّدت على الجميع أنّه لتفادي هذا النوع من الجرائم الإلكترونية، تنزيل التطبيقات من المتاجر الرسمية فقط (أبل ستور ، جوجل بلاي) وعدم تنزيل أية تطبيقات من من أيّة مواقع أخرى أو منصّات أو روابط إلكترونية.
