تعيش في أستراليا حيوانات كثيرة منها السامة مثل الثعابين والعقارب والخطيرة مثل التماسيح والحيتان,ولكن هناك أيضا حيوانات الكانجرو التي يربيها الناس أحيانا في حدائق منازلهم والجمال التي توجد بكثرة في أستراليا.
وهناك حيوان متميز لا يعيش إلا في أستراليا واسمه الكوالا وهو نوع من الدببة له كيس يضع فيه صغاره.
ويعيش الكوالا طول حياته دون أن يشرب الماء ويتغذى على أوراق أنواع معينة من الأشجار.
