هل فكرت يوما بسبب طفو السمكة في الماء بعد موتها؟ الواقع ان معظم الاسماك ذات كثافة الماء، لذا فانها تسقط الى القاع مباشرة بعد موتها.
لكن، وكما هي الحال مع الانسان والحيوانات الاخرى، تتجه الى الارتفاع في الماء والطفو بمرور الوقت نتيجة تحليل البكتيريا لجسمها، بما يؤدي الى انتاج غازات في داخل الجسم، ووجود هذه الغازات في تجاويف الجسم يقلل من كثافته، لذلك وكما هو الحال مع البالون عند نفخه، تأخذ السمكة بالطفو، وبالطبع قد تحدث حالات تبقى فيها السمكة في القاع دون ان تطفو.
