نفى مصدر دبلوماسي سوري السبت إرسال قوّات "في الوقت الراهن" إلى اليمن لمساندة القوات الحكومية المدعومة من تحالف تقوده السعودية، في مواجهة الحوثيين المدعومين من إيران.

ونقلت وكالة الأنباء الرسمية (سانا) عن المصدر قوله إن "الحديث عن إرسال قوات عسكرية سورية إلى اليمن في الوقت الراهن لا أساس له من الصحة".

وكانت مصادر مرتبطة بالحكومة اليمنية أفادوا في وقت سابق بأن سوريا بدأت نشر جنود في السعودية واليمن للمساعدة في مواجهة الحوثيين.
