أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأميركية (البنتاغون) الثلاثاء اختيار شركة بوينغ لتطوير الجيل التالي للمقاتلات الهجومية التابعة للبحرية الأميركية، في إطار عقد تبلغ قيمته 20 مليار دولار.

وأوضح البنتاغون في بيان أن الشركة ستُنتح بموجب العقد الجديد طائرات "F/A-XX" المقاتلة أو ما يُعرف بـ"المقاتلات الهجومية" في إطار برنامج "الجيل التالي للهيمنة الجوية". وأضاف أن المقاتلات الجديدة ستحلّ محل أسطول طائرات "سوبر هورنت" الحالي اعتبارا من بداية العقد المقبل.
