أنجز الاتحاد الأردني لكرة السلة الإجراءات الرسمية المتعلقة بتجنيس اللاعب الأميركي بيرن بافورد ومنحه الجنسية الأردنية، لتعزيز صفوف المنتخب الوطني الأول للرجال خلال الاستحقاقات المقبلة.

ووصل بافورد إلى المملكة أمس، فيما يعمل الاتحاد بالتنسيق مع اللجنة الأولمبية الأردنية، على بحث إمكانية مشاركة اللاعب مع المنتخب الوطني في دورة الألعاب الآسيوية – ناغويا 2026، وفق الأنظمة والتعليمات المعمول بها، وبعد استكمال المتطلبات الفنية والإدارية ذات الصلة.

وأكد رئيس اللجنة المؤقتة للاتحاد، يزن المعشر، أن تعزيز صفوف المنتخبات الوطنية بالعناصر القادرة على تقديم الإضافة الفنية، إلى جانب مواصلة تطوير منظومة كرة السلة الأردنية، يمثل أولوية للاتحاد خلال المرحلة المقبلة.

وقال المعشر، إن الاتحاد يعمل وفق رؤية واضحة تهدف إلى تطوير المنتخبات الوطنية ورفع مستوى جاهزيتها بما يتناسب مع حجم الاستحقاقات المقبلة، مشدداً على أهمية تكاتف جميع أطراف منظومة كرة السلة الأردنية خلال المرحلة المقبلة.
