أفاد مصدر مقرّب من المهاجم العاجي إيلي واهي الخميس أن الأخير حصل في نهاية المطاف على إذن بدخول الأراضي الكندية بعدما حُرم مؤقتا من التأشيرة للسفر مع منتخب بلاده إلى كندا، وسيتمكن من المشاركة في المباراة الثانية لـ"الفيلة" في المونديال، السبت أمام ألمانيا.

وكانت كندا أجّلت منح هذا الإذن، مطالبة بمعلومات إضافية حول وضع اللاعب، المشتبه في تورطه بقضية مراهنات رياضية مشبوهة في فرنسا تتعلق ببطاقة صفراء تلقاها خلال المرحلة الأخيرة من الدوري الفرنسي، بحسب المصدر نفسه.

وكانت محاميته ماري دوزيه أكدت في وقت سابق من اليوم أن "إيلي واهي غير ملاحق في هذه المرحلة، وبالتالي لا يخضع لأي قيود قضائية".
