أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأميركية، الجمعة، في ختام يومين من المفاوضات بين إسرائيل ولبنان في واشنطن، الاتفاق على تمديد وقف إطلاق النار لمدة 45 يوما، بهدف إتاحة المجال لإحراز تقدم إضافي في المحادثات.

وأوضحت الوزارة في بيان، أن جولة جديدة من المفاوضات ستُعقد في العاصمة الأميركية يومي 2 و3 حزيران المقبل، في إطار الجهود المستمرة لخفض التصعيد بين الجانبين.

وأضافت أن مسارا موازيا للمحادثات الأمنية سيُطلق في مقر وزارة الدفاع الأميركية (البنتاغون) في 29 أيار، بمشاركة وفود عسكرية من إسرائيل ولبنان، لبحث الترتيبات الأمنية على الحدود.

وأعربت الخارجية الأميركية عن أملها في أن تسهم هذه المحادثات في تحقيق سلام مستدام بين البلدين، يقوم على الاعتراف الكامل بسيادة كل منهما وسلامة أراضيه، إضافة إلى ترسيخ أمن فعلي على طول الحدود المشتركة.
