سمّت المنظمة العربية المتحدة للبحث العلمي، الدكتور أمجد بهجت شموط، رئيسًا لمجلس إدارتها للدورة 2026–2028، خلفًا لرئيس البرلمان العربي السابق عادل العسومي، وذلك بعد انتهاء مدة رئاسته.

وقال الأمين العام للمنظمة، الدكتور ناصر الفضلي، إن اختيار الدكتور شموط جاء نظرًا لخبراته الواسعة وتاريخه العربي المشرف، معربًا عن شكره له لقبول هذه المهمة في مرحلة مفصلية تأتي بعد عامين من تأسيس المنظمة وتثبيت قواعد عملها، متطلعًا مع أعضاء مجلس الإدارة الجديد إلى تحقيق أهداف المنظمة التنموية.
