يتوجه أحمد الشرع إلى الولايات المتحدة الأحد لحضور اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، في خطوة هي الأولى من نوعها لرئيس سوري منذ عقود.

وأفاد المكتب الإعلامي في الرئاسة، وفق ما نقل التلفزيون الرسمي، بأن الشرع "يتوجه إلى الولايات المتحدة الأميركية للمشاركة في أعمال الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة بنيويورك في دورتها الثمانين".

وسيكون الشرع الذي يتولى الحكم عقب قيادته هجوم الفصائل المعارضة الذي أطاح ببشار الأسد في كانون الأول، أول رئيس سوري يتحدث أمام الجمعية العامة منذ نور الدين الأتاسي في العام 1967.
