صرح مصدر عسكري مسؤول في القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة الأردنية – الجيش العربي، أن المنطقة العسكرية الشرقية، وبمعلومات مسبقة من مديرية الأمن العسكري وإدارة مكافحة المخدرات، أحبطت فجر اليوم الأحد، على واجهتها محاولة تهريب كميات كبيرة من المواد المخدرة من الأراضي السورية إلى الأراضي الأردنية.

وبين المصدر أنه تم تطبيق قواعد الاشتباك، ما أدى إلى إصابة بعض المهربين وفرار الآخرين إلى داخل العمق السوري، وبعد تفتيش المنطقة تم العثور على كميات كبيرة من المواد المخدرة، وتحويلها إلى الجهات المختصة.

وأكد المصدر أن القوات المسلحة الأردنية - الجيش العربي، ستتعامل بكل قوة وحزم مع أي عملية تسلل أو محاولة تهريب لحماية الحدود ومنع من تسول له نفسه العبث بالأمن الوطني الأردني.
