تأهل فريقا تشيلسي ومانشستر سيتي، اليوم الإثنين، إلى دور الـ 16 (ثمن النهائي) لبطولة كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي لكرة القدم.

وتغلب تشيلسي على ضيفه نيوكاسل يونايتد بثلاثية نظيفة ضمن منافسات دور الـ 32 للبطولة المحلية.

أنهى الفريق اللندني الشوط الأول لصالحه متقدمًا بهدفين نظيفين سجلهما البلجيكي ميشي باتشواي في الدقيقتين 31 و44.

وفي الوقت الذي بحث فيه نيوكاسل عن فرصة تقليص النتيجة، أضاف تشيلسي الهدف الثالث عبر الإسباني ماركوس ألونسو في الدقيقة 72.

وفي مباراة ثانية ضمن منافسات الدور ذاته، تغلب مانشستر سيتي على مضيفه كارديف سيتي بهدفين دون رد.

بادر السيتي بتسجيل هدف مبكر في الدقيقة الثامنة عن طريق البلجيكي كيفين دي بروين، وأضاف رحيم سترلينجى الهدف الثاني في الدقيقة 37 لينتهي الشوط الأول بتقدم الضيوف بهدفين نظيفين.

وتوالت الفرص الضائعة من جانب لاعبي الفريقين طوال شوط المباراة الثاني، ليخرج مانشستر سيتي فائزًا باللقاء ومتأهلًا للدور التالي من البطولة.
