الرأي – رصد - يسعى باحثون في وكالة الفضاء الأميركية "ناسا" إلى تمكين الإنسان، مستقبلا، من السفر إلى كوكب المريخ في مدة لا تتجاوز 3 أيام، عوض المدة المقدرة في الوقت الحالي، بخمسة أشهر.

وتشكل المدة التي تستغرقها المركبات للوصول إلى المريخ، أحد العراقيل أمام علم الفلك، بالنظر إلى طولها، مما دفع إلى البحث عن صيغة لزيادة السرعة بـ3 في المائة عن سرعة الضوء.

ويراهن باحثو ناسا على إمكانية استخدام وسائل الدفع الفوتونية لأجل تشغيل مركبات الفضاء، أثناء إرسالها إلى وجهات بعيدة خارج المجموعة الشمسية.

ويحيل الفوتون في علم الفيزياء إلى الضوء، إضافة إلى كل الأشكال الأخرى للإشعاع الكهروميغناطيسي.

ويدرس أستاذ علم الفيزياء بجامعة كاليفورنيا، فيليب لوبين، مع باحثين آخرين، جدوى إطلاق أشعة الليزر في مدار حول الأرض لأجل دفع سفن فضائية بطيئة، وجعلها تسير بسرعات أكبر.
