يبدو في الصورة تود فنتون الاستاذ المساعد في علم الانسان في جامعة متشيغان ستيت وهو يعرض لفقرة بشرية قديمة يزيد عمرها عن الف سنة تؤكد وجود دلائل على الحمى المتموجة في بقايا هياكل بشرية قديمة.
ويقول فنتون ان بقايا الهيكل العظمي التي عُثر عليها في البانيا، هي الاولى التي تقترح ان هذا المرض المعدي وجد في البانيا منذ العصور الوسطى على الاقل.
