حذّرت المفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين الثلاثاء من أن نحو 8,3 ملايين لاجئ ونازح قسرا قد يفقدون مساعدات حيوية، في ظل تراجع خدمات الحماية بسبب "تخفيضات حادة" في التمويل.

وقالت المفوضية إن "قدرتها على حماية اللاجئين والنازحين داخليا وعديمي الجنسية ومساعدتهم تتآكل بسبب فجوة تمويلية مستمرة ومتفاقمة"، مشيرة إلى أنها لم تحصل حتى نهاية تموز/يوليو سوى على 32% من أصل 8,5 مليارات دولار تحتاجها هذا العام لحماية اللاجئين.
