دعا وزير خارجية جيبوتي إلى عدم تصعيد الوضع في باب المندب، باعتباره ممرا حيويا للملاحة الدولية، مؤكدا استمرار بلاده في توفير الضمانات اللازمة لمرور السفن والناقلات عبر المضيق بحرية وأمان.

وأشار عمر إلى أن جيبوتي لم تسجل حتى الآن أي اضطراب في باب المندب، وأن حركة الملاحة مستمرة بشكل طبيعي.

وقال، إن بلاده تدعو "إخواننا في اليمن" إلى عدم تصعيد الوضع في باب المندب، نظرا إلى أهمية الممر الحيوي لحركة الملاحة.

وفي سياق متصل، أفاد عمر بأن جيبوتي استقبلت أكثر من 2512 لاجئا يمنيا، مشيرا إلى أن التقديرات تشير إلى احتمال ارتفاع العدد إلى 10 آلاف لاجئ أو أكثر.
