قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب إن الحرب مع إيران ستنتهي "ربما قبل انتخابات التجديد النصفي أو بعدها مباشرة"، مؤكدا في الوقت نفسه أن طهران ترغب بشدة في إبرام اتفاق مع واشنطن.

وأضاف ترامب أن إيران "تريد إبرام اتفاق بأي ثمن"، لكنه شدد على أنه لن يوقع اتفاقا "غير مثالي"، مؤكدا أن طهران لن تحصل على سلاح نووي.

وكان ترامب قال في تصريحات سابقة إن الحرب ستنتهي مباشرة بعد انتخابات التجديد النصفي المقررة في تشرين الثاني، مشيرا إلى أن إيران لم تعد قادرة على الصمود طويلا.

وفي شأن آخر، دعا ترامب الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي إلى التوقف عن ضرب المنشآت النفطية في روسيا.
