تسلّمت الدكتورة آية الأسمر، نقيب أطباء الأسنان الأردنيين، اليوم رئاسة مجلس النقباء، خلفاً للدكتور عيسى الخشاشنة نقيب الأطباء، وذلك في إطار التناوب الدوري على رئاسة المجلس بين نقباء النقابات المهنية الكبرى. وتُعد الأسمر أول سيدة تتولى رئاسة مجلس النقباء في تاريخ النقابات المهنية.

ويضم مجلس النقباء رؤساء النقابات المهنية في المملكة، ويتولى التنسيق بين النقابات في القضايا المشتركة ذات الصلة بالشأن المهني والوطني، فيما تُسند رئاسته بالتناوب إلى النقباء وفق آلية متفق عليها بين النقابات الأعضاء.

وكانت الأسمر قد انتخبت نقيباً لأطباء الأسنان في أيار من العام الماضي، لتصبح أول امرأة تتولى هذا المنصب منذ تأسيس النقابة،
