اعتبر الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب الجمعة أن الولايات المتحدة قد تواجه أزمة تدفق مهاجرين مماثلة لما يحصل في جيب سبتة الإسباني بشمال المغرب، في حال فاز خصومه الديموقراطيون في الانتخابات.

ونقلت شبكة "فوكس نيوز" عن الرئيس الجمهوري قوله إن المشاهد الواردة من سبتة خلال الأيام الماضية "مروّعة".

أضاف "تذكّروا تلك الصورة. هذا ما سنكون عليه بعد ثلاث سنوات إذا وصل الطرف الخاطئ إلى الحكم"، متابعا "إذا وصل الديموقراطيون (الى الحكم)، لن تعيشوا حياة جيدة جدا".

وأعلنت السلطات الإسبانية أن عشرات الآلاف من المهاجرين تدفقوا في الأيام الماضية عبر الحدود من المغرب الى جيب سبتة الواقع في شمال إفريقيا. وأكد مسؤولون أن 34 شخصا لقوا حتفهم أثناء محاولات العبور.
