قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب ، لصحفيين في البيت الأبيض إن فنزويلا ليست مستعدة لإجراء انتخابات الآن لكنها أحرزت تقدما كبيرا في عهد القائمة بأعمال الرئيس ديلسي رودريجيز.

واجتمع أعضاء الحزب الحاكم والمعارضة للمرة الأولى الشهر الماضي منذ توقيعهما اتفاقا لإجراء انتخابات رئاسية في عام 2024.

واعتقلت قوات أميركية في كانون الثاني الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو على خلفية اتهامه بتزوير الانتخابات، وتركت واشنطن الحكومة قائمة دون إعلان خطط لإجراء انتخابات حرة.

وقال ترامب لصحفيين في البيت الأبيض "فيما يتعلق بالانتخابات في فنزويلا، فهم ليسوا مستعدين لها بعد. لكن يا إلهي، لقد أُحرز تقدم كبير. ديلسي تقوم بعمل رائع".

وأضاف ترامب أنه عندما يصبح هذا البلد جاهزا لإجراء الانتخابات، "سنكون موجودين هناك (للإشراف) عن قرب".
