أعلنت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية اليابانية تسجيل زلزال بقوة 6,9 درجات قبالة سواحل شمال اليابان الخميس، مشيرة إلى عدم وجود خطر حدوث موجات تسونامي.

ووقع الزلزال قبالة ساحل محافظة إيواتي في شمال جزيرة هونشو وعلى عمق 50 كيلومترا بسحب الوكالة.

ولم ترد تقارير فورية عن أضرار جسيمة.

وقالت امرأة من سكان بلدة هاشيكامي حيث الهزة كانت الأقوى، لوكالة فرانس برس إن الأضرار الوحيدة التي لحقت بمنزلها تمثلت في سقوط إطار صورة.

وأظهرت مشاهد بثتها هيئة الإذاعة العامة حركة مرور عادية في مدينة هاتشينوهي، مع استمرار عمل إشارات المرور كالمعتاد.

واليابان هي واحدة من أكثر دول العالم التي تشهد نشاطا زلزاليا إذ تقع فوق أربع صفائح تكتونية رئيسية على طول الحافة الغربية لـ"حلقة النار" في المحيط الهادئ.
