قال مصدران مطلعان على سير العمليات في محطة التوليد المشتركة التي توفر طاقة البخار والكهرباء لمصفاة جالفستون باي التابعة لماراثون بتروليوم، الأحد، إنه تم إخماد حريق بوحدة حرق في المنشأة الواقعة بمدينة تكساس سيتي بولاية تكساس الأميركية والتي تبلغ طاقتها 631 ألف برميل يوميا.

ولم يحدد جمال خيري المتحدث باسم ماراثون الوحدة التي اندلع بها الحريق في مصفاة جالفستون باي، وهي ثاني أكبر مصفاة في البلاد. وقال خيري إن أفراد الإطفاء في المصفاة "أخمدوا حريقا صغيرا". ولم تشر أي تقارير لوقوع إصابات.
