قال مفوض الأمم المتحدة السامي لحقوق الإنسان فولكر تورك، الأربعاء، إنّه سيرسل بعثة إلى لبنان للتحقق من انتهاكات محتملة لحقوق الإنسان منذ اندلاع الحرب بين حزب الله وإسرائيل في آذار.

وقال تورك للصحفيين "لقد اتفقتُ مع حكومة لبنان على إجراء بعثة تقييم مستقلة وحيادية في البلاد".

أضاف "سأعمل قريبا على نشر فريق لجمع المعلومات والأدلة حول الانتهاكات والتجاوزات المزعومة للقانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان، وانتهاكات القانون الدولي الإنساني والقوانين ذات الصلة التي ارتكبتها أطراف النزاع المسلح في البلاد منذ الثاني من آذار".
