أعلنت القوات المسلحة الأميركية أن طائرة حربية تابعة لها أطلقت النار الاثنين على ناقلة نفط فارغة في خليج عُمان وأعطبتها بعد أن انتهكت الحصار الذي تفرضه واشنطن على موانئ إيران.

وأفادت القيادة المركزية الأميركية (سنتكوم) في بيان أن طائرة إف/إيه-18 سوبر هورنت "أطلقت ذخيرة دقيقة على غرف المحركات والتوجيه في السفينة بعد أن رفض طاقمها الامتثال لأوامر القوات الأميركية"، مضيفة أن الناقلة "إم/تي ماريفكس" التي ترفع علم بالاو "لم تعد متجهة إلى إيران".
