نقلت وكالة رويترز عن صحيفة فاينانشال تايمز عن مصادر مطلعة أن الوسطاء يعتقدون أن الولايات المتحدة وإيران تقتربان من اتفاق لتمديد وقف إطلاق النار بينهما لمدة 60 يوما ووضع إطار لمحادثات بشأن البرنامج النووي الإيراني.

قال المتحدث باسم الخارجية الإيرانية إسماعيل بقائي، إنّ بلاده باتت "في مرحلة إنجاز" إطار تفاهم مع الولايات المتحدة، وذلك بعد زيارة إلى طهران أجراها قائد الجيش الباكستاني عاصم منير الذي تؤدي بلاده وساطة لإنهاء الحرب في الشرق الأوسط.

وأوضح "في هذه المرحلة، لن نتطرق إلى تفاصيل المسألة النووية. نعرف أن ملفنا النووي سبق أن استُخدم ذريعة لحربين على الشعب الإيراني"، ولذلك "قررنا... إعطاء الأولوية لقضية عاجلة بالنسبة إلينا: إنهاء الحرب على كل الجبهات، بما فيها لبنان".
