قالت إدارة معلومات الطاقة، الذراع الإحصائية لوزارة الطاقة الأمريكية، اليوم الثلاثاء إنها تفترض أن يظل مضيق هرمز في حكم المغلق حتى أواخر مايو أيار، وأن تستأنف حركة الملاحة تدريجيا اعتبارا من الشهر المقبل، وهو ما دفعها إلى رفع توقعاتها لأسعار وقود السيارات في الولايات المتحدة.

وأدى إحكام إيران قبضتها على مضيق هرمز في حربها مع الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل إلى اضطراب أسواق الطاقة العالمية، مع تعطل ملايين البراميل يوميا من صادرات الطاقة القادمة من الشرق الأوسط، وهو ما أجج المخاوف من نقص الوقود حول العالم.

وفي الولايات المتحدة، بلغت أسعار البنزين والديزل وأنواع وقود أخرى أعلى مستوياتها في عدة سنوات، ما يشكل تحديا سياسيا كبيرا للرئيس دونالد ترامب قبل أشهر فقط من انتخابات التجديد النصفي في نوفمبر تشرين الثاني.
