قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب الأحد إن الولايات المتحدة ستواكب السفن في مضيق هرمز اعتبارا من الإثنين، وأشار إلى أن "دولا من مختلف أنحاء العالم" طلبت ذلك.

وجاء في منشور لترامب على منصته تروث سوشال "خدمة لمصالح إيران والشرق الأوسط والولايات المتحدة، أبلغنا هذه الدول بأننا سنرشد سفنها للخروج بأمان من هذه الممرات المائية المحظورة، لكي تتمكن من متابعة أعمالها بحرية وكفاءة".

وأضاف "ستبدأ عملية (مشروع الحرية) هذه صباح الإثنين بتوقيت الشرق الأوسط".
