قال الجيش اللبناني في بيان السبت إن قائده العماد رودولف هيكل عقد اجتماعا "استثنائيا" مع رئيس لجنة الإشراف على اتفاق وقف الأعمال القتالية الجنرال الأمريكي جوزيف كليرفيلد في قاعدة بيروت الجوية "لمناقشة الوضع الأمني في لبنان والتطورات على صعيد المنطقة"".

وأضاف البيان أنه تم التشديد خلال الاجتماع على "أهمية دور الجيش وضرورة دعمه في ظل المرحلة الحالية".
