كلّف الرئيس العراقي نزار آميدي الاثنين علي الزيدي تأليف الحكومة الجديدة، بعد ترشيحه من قبل الإطار التنسيقي المؤلف من أحزاب شيعية مقرّبة من إيران.

وأفادت الرئاسة العراقية في بيان بأن آميدي "يكلّف مرشح الكتلة النيابية الأكثر عددا السيد علي الزيدي بتشكيل الحكومة الجديدة".
