رحب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش، اليوم، بإعلان الولايات المتحدة تمديد وقف إطلاق النار مع إيران.

وقال غوتيريش، حسب بيان صدر باسمه، إنها تعد خطوة مهمة نحو خفض التصعيد وإتاحة حيز حيوي للدبلوماسية وبناء الثقة بين إيران والولايات المتحدة، حاثا جميع الأطراف على البناء على هذا الزخم، والامتناع عن اتخاذ أي إجراءات من شأنها تقويض وقف إطلاق النار، والانخراط بشكل بنّاء في المفاوضات للتوصل إلى حل مستدام ودائم.

وأضاف إنه يؤيد تأييداً كاملاً للجهود التي تبذلها باكستان لتسهيل إجراء مزيد من المحادثات، معربا عن أمله أن تسهم هذه الجهود في تهيئة ظروف مفضية إلى حل شامل ودائم للنزاع.
