أعلن المعهد الروسي لأبحاث القطبين تفكك جبل الجليد المعروفة بـ "إيه - 23 إيه" بالكامل في المحيط المتجمد الجنوبي.

تجاوزت مساحته 4 آلاف كيلومتر مربع عند تشكله عام 1986، قبل أن ينفصل عن منصة فيلشنر-رون الجليدية في القارة القطبية الجنوبية.

ظل عالقاً لأكثر من 30 عاماً في بحر ويدل قبل أن يبدأ التحرك عام 2023، حيث بدأ يتقلص حتى أصبحت مساحته لا تتجاوز 50 كيلومترا مربعا.
