أكّد نائب وزير الخارجية الإيراني سعيد خطيب زاده، السبت، أنّ الولايات المتحدة "لا يمكنها فرض إرادتها" ومحاصرة مضيق هرمز الاستراتيجي، وذلك بعدما أعلنت القوات المسلحة الإيرانية إعادة إغلاق الممرّ المائي الحيوي.

وقال زاده للصحفيين على هامش منتدى دبلوماسي سنوي في أنطاليا بجنوب تركيا "لا يمكن للأميركيين فرض إرادتهم لمحاصرة إيران، فيما تحاول إيران بحسن نية، تسهيل المرور الآمن عبر مضيق هرمز".

ونفى زاده تحديد موعد لجولة مفاوضات مقبلة مع واشنطن.

وأشار نائب وزير الخارجية الإيراني إلى أنّ الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب "يُكثر من منشوراته ويتكلم كثيرا".
