قال رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف الجمعة، إن مسؤولين إيرانيين سيشاركون في المحادثات المقررة السبت في إسلام آباد مع الولايات المتحدة، رغم أن طهران لم تؤكد رسميا حضورها.

وأضاف في خطاب إلى الأمة "استجابة لدعوتي الصادقة، سيأتي مسؤولون من البلدين إلى إسلام آباد، حيث ستُعقد مفاوضات لإرساء السلام".

وفيما كان نائب الرئيس الأميركي جاي دي فانس في طريقه إلى باكستان، أكدت إيران أنها تشترط وقف إطلاق النار في لبنان والإفراج عن أصولها المجمّدة قبل أي محادثات مع واشنطن، ما أثار شكوكا حيال انعقادها.
