رحب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش اليوم بالإعلان عن وقف إطلاق النار لمدة أسبوعين من قبل الولايات المتحدة وإيران.

ودعا غوتيريش حسب بيان صدر باسمه جميع الأطراف في الصراع الحالي في الشرق الأوسط إلى الالتزام بالتزاماتهم بموجب القانون الدولي والامتثال لشروط وقف إطلاق النار من أجل تمهيد الطريق نحو سلام دائم وشامل في المنطقة.

وأكد غوتيريش أن إنهاء الأعمال العدائية أمر عاجل للحفاظ على أرواح المدنيين وتخفيف معاناتهم الإنسانية، معربا عن تقديره الصادق لجهود باكستان والدول الأخرى المشاركة في تسهيل وقف إطلاق النار.

وأعلن الأمين العام ان "مبعوثه الشخصي جان أرنو موجود في المنطقة لدعم الجهود الرامية إلى تحقيق السلام الدائم".
