دعت 18 دولة أوروبية الخميس إسرائيل وحزب الله إلى وقف القتال، مع دخول الحرب بينهما شهرها الثاني، وتأكيد مسؤولين إسرائيليين عزمهم على إقامة "منطقة أمنية" في جنوب لبنان.

وجاء في بيان مشترك لوزراء خارجية هذه الدول، وأبرزها إيطاليا وإسبانيا وبلجيكا وبولندا وإيرلندا، "يجب أن تتوقف العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية في لبنان وهجمات حزب الله".

وأضاف "نحضّ إسرائيل على الاحترام الكامل لسيادة لبنان ووحدة أراضيه، وندعو كل الأطراف، حزب الله وإسرائيل على السواء، إلى وقف الأعمال العسكرية".
