قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب، إن رئيس النظام الجديد في إيران طلب من الولايات المتحدة وقف إطلاق النار، مشيراً إلى أن واشنطن ستنظر في هذا الطلب "عندما يكون مضيق هرمز مفتوحاً وحراً وآمناً".

وأضاف ترامب في منشور على منصة تروث سوشال، الأربعاء، أن رئيس النظام الجديد في إيران "أقل تطرفاً وأكثر ذكاءً من أسلافه"، لافتاً إلى أن بلاده لن تدرس مسألة وقف إطلاق النار قبل ضمان حرية الملاحة في المضيق.

وأكد الرئيس الأميركي أن الولايات المتحدة ستواصل عملياتها ضد إيران، قائلاً إنها "ستدمر إيران بالكامل" أو "تعيدها إلى العصور الحجرية"، على حد تعبيره.
