يدرس الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب، انسحاب الولايات المتحدة من حلف شمال الأطلسي، وفقا لما نقلته صحيفة ديلي تيليغراف البريطانية عن ترامب الذي اعتبر الحلف تقاعس عن دعم العمل العسكري ضد إيران.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن ترامب وصف الحلف بأنه "نمر من ورق"، ونقلت عنه قوله إن مسألة انسحاب سحب الولايات المتحدة من اتفاق الدفاع "تجاوزت مرحلة إعادة النظر". وأضاف أنه كانت لديه منذ فترة طويلة شكوك بشأن مصداقية حلف شمال الأطلسي.

وقال" عندما سُئل عما إذا كان سيعيد النظر في عضوية الولايات المتحدة في الحلف بعد الحرب "نعم، أقول إن الأمر تجاوز مرحلة إعادة النظر".

وأضاف "لم أقتنع يوما بحلف شمال الأطلسي. كنت أعرف دائما أنه نمر من ورق، والرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين يعرف ذلك أيضا، بالمناسبة".
