قالت مصادر أمنية عراقية إن موجة من الهجمات بالطائرات المسيرة والصواريخ استهدفت السفارة الأميركية في بغداد في وقت مبكر الثلاثاء، ووصفت هذه الموجة بأنها الأكثر كثافة منذ بدء الهجمات، مع استخدام ما لا يقل عن خمس طائرات مسيرة.

ونقلت رويترز عن شهود أن دوي انفجار قوي سمع في العاصمة العراقية.

وتشن إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة ضربات جوية على إيران منذ السبت 28 شباط، أدت إلى مقتل المرشد الأعلى الإيراني علي خامنئي، ومنذ ذلك الحين تردّ طهران بضرب إسرائيل ودول في المنطقة بصواريخ وطائرات مسيّرة.
