أعلنت الشرطة الكندية عن وقوع إطلاق نار على القنصلية الأمريكية في تورونتو، دون تسجيل إصابات.

وأوضحت الشرطة في بيان الثلاثاء، أن الهجوم المسلح على البعثة الدبلوماسية وقع حوالي الساعة 5:30 صباحا بالتوقيت المحلي، وأنه سمع دوي إطلاق نار كثيف في المنطقة.

وأضافت أن التحقيقات جارية في موقع الحادث، وأنه لم يتم التعرف على أي مشتبه به حتى الآن.

بدوره، وصف رئيس وزراء كندا مارك كارني في تدوينة على منصة شركة "إكس" الأمريكية، الهجوم بأنه "عمل عنف شنيع ومحاولة ترهيب".

وأعرب كارني عن ارتياحه لعدم وقوع إصابات في الهجوم، مؤكدا دعمهم للتحقيق في الهجوم.

وذكر أنهم سيخصصون جميع الموارد اللازمة لضمان التعرف على مرتكبي أعمال العنف.
