دعا الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين إلى "احتواء سريع للتصعيد" في الشرق الأوسط خلال مكالمة هاتفية الثلاثاء مع نظيره الإيراني مسعود بزشكيان، وذلك غداة اتصال مماثل بنظيره الأميركي دونالد ترامب.

وقال الكرملين في بيان إن "الرئيس الروسي كرر موقفه المبدئي لصالح احتواء سريع للنزاع وحله بالسبل السياسية"، لافتا إلى أن بزشكيان شكر روسيا "لدعمها وخصوصا للمساعدة الإنسانية التي قدمتها إلى إيران".

وتشن إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة ضربات جوية على إيران منذ السبت 28 شباط، أدت لمقتل المرشد الأعلى علي خامنئي، ومنذ ذلك الحين، ترد طهران بضرب إسرائيل ودول في المنطقة بصواريخ وطائرات مسيّرة.
