قال إن بلاده تعزز وجودها العسكري في المنطقة بالتشاور مع شركائها، مشيراً إلى إرسال مقاتلات من طراز يوروفايتر تايفون وإف‑35 لايتنينغ الثانية. وأضاف أن المدمرة HMS Dragon (D35) ستتجه إلى قبرص خلال أيام قليلة.

في السياق ذاته، أفادت شبكة سي بي أس نيوز نقلاً عن مصادر مطلعة بأن قاذفات أميركية من طراز B‑1B Lancer هبطت في RAF Fairford.

وأوضحت المصادر أن وصول القاذفات جاء بعد تجاوز الخلاف الذي كان قد نشب بين دونالد ترامب ورئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر.
