قال متحدث باسم البحرية الإيطالية الجمعة إن إحدى سفن البحرية تستعد للتوجه إلى قبرص في إطار مهمة أوروبية مشتركة لحماية الجزيرة بعد تعرضها لقصف إيراني هذا الأسبوع.

وسيجري نشر الفرقاطة (فيديريكو مارتينينجو) في منطقة قبرص في إطار مهمة منسقة تشارك فيها أيضا فرنسا وإسبانيا وهولندا.

واستهدفت طائرة مسيرة إيرانية الصنع قاعدة تابعة لسلاح الجو الملكي البريطاني في قبرص يوم الاثنين عقب الهجوم الأمريكي والإسرائيلي على طهران.

وذكرت البحرية الإيطالية أن طاقما من حوالي 160 فردا سيكون على متن السفينة المتوقع أن تغادر إيطاليا بحلول غد السبت.
