حاول مئات العراقيين في وقت مبكر من صباح الأحد اقتحام المنطقة الخضراء المحصنة في بغداد حيث تقع السفارة الأميركية، بعد مقتل المرشد الأعلى الإيراني علي خامنئي، وفق ما أفاد مصدر أمني وكالة فرانس برس.

وقال المصدر "حاول مئات المحتجين اقتحام المنطقة الخضراء وقد تم التصدي لهم، لكنهم يواصلون المحاولة".

وأظهرت مقاطع فيديو متداولة على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي متظاهرين يرشقون بالحجارة قوات أمنية ما دفعها إلى الرد باستخدام الغاز المسيل للدموع. وشاهد أحد موظفي فرانس برس مئات الأشخاص يرفعون أعلام جماعات مسلحة موالية لإيران.
