دعا صندوق النقد الدولي الأربعاء الولايات المتحدة إلى العمل مع شركائها التجاريين وإيجاد سبل تتيح تخفيفا متبادلا للقيود التجارية، وذلك في تقريره بشأن أداء الاقتصاد الأميركي.

يتناول التقرير السنة الأولى من الولاية الرئاسية الثانية لدونالد ترامب، ويشير إلى أنه يتعين على واشنطن أن تعمل بشكل بنّاء مع الشركاء "لمعالجة المخاوف المتّصلة بممارسات تجارية مجحفة والاتفاق على تخفيف منسّق للقيود التجارية" ذات الأثر السلبي العابر للحدود.

وقال الصندوق "عندما تُتَّخذ تدابير تتعلق بالتجارة والاستثمار (بما في ذلك الرسوم الجمركية وضوابط التصدير) لأسباب على صلة بالأمن القومي، فإن سياسات كهذه ينبغي أن تطبّق على نطاق ضيّق".
